I really like mini getaways where we can take Rocky away with us, even if it's only for one night at a time. I also like to try and find the best deals!
My friends always tease me for being on Groupon and Wowcher and scouring the internet to find the latest offers, discounts and great deals. Recently I've been looking for dog friendly getaways (and even better so if they're budget friendly!) So I started to deep dive into Google to try and find some of the BEST dog friendly accommodation in the UK, and wanted to share them with you too.
A problem I've been encountering on my search, is that a LOT of places that claim to be dog friendly, are really not that dog friendly at all. A lot of the terms and conditions on the websites state that dogs are not allowed to be left alone in the room.
This makes things difficult for us, because as much as I love having a little getaway with Rocky, it's also nice to be able to go for a meal with just you and the person you've travelled with. Rocky isn't the best at settling at meal times which makes going for food with him a real chore and not very relaxing. At the end of the day, if you're paying for a getaway or holiday, you want to be able to enjoy it too.
He's much more settled being left in a quiet room on his own, wouldn't bark and although he's not destructive, we always take his crate with us, and would only be leaving him for a couple of hours whilst we went for a meal.
So with all of this in mind, I've started to write a list of places that seem to be truely dog friendly that I'm going to blog about and share with you. These dog friendly accommodations have no restrictions on leaving your (well behaved) dog alone in the room, and some even have a doggy doorstop to make staff aware so they don't go in your room to clean for example when you're not there. I love this idea!
So to begin with, I came across South Causey Inn in County Durham:
